Implementation of Maryland's new Electronic Death Registration System (MD-EDRS) will begin on January 1, 2015, when the Office oft he Chief Medical Examiner and selected funeral establishments begin participation in MD-EDRS. The remaining funeral establishments and Medical Certifiers will be brought onto the system until all data providers are using MD-EDRS.
Only authorized users will be permitted access to MD-EDRS. To access the system, each user must be designated an authorized user by the affiliated institution (hospital, nursing home, hospice). Medical Certifiers will be contacted to arrange access to MD-EDRS shortly before they are set to participate in the system.

There will also be opportunities for in-person and on-line training beginning in January. Please refer your members to our website for additional information.
